Instruction on the collecting, processing and storage of personal data according to the German Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the German Teleservices Data Protection Act (TDDSG)

Personal data is specific information on the personal or factual circumstances of a certain designated person, e.g. name, address, date of birth, e-mail address and the IP (Internet Protocol) address.

I. Which data are collected at the TuTech website?
1. Data that you enter in forms at www.tutech.de and other TuTech webpages.
2. Data not entered in forms at this website by you, but automatically transferred by your browser to our server (e.g. your IP address).
General information, that your browser (Netscape or Internet Explorer) sends with each request are saved in a so-called log file. These data are solely used for statistical purposes.

The various data have the following meaning:
remotehost: This is the name of the computer or the IP of the client, that has downloaded the document (in our example the placeholder named 255.255.255.255).
rfc931: The login of the user, with which he has registered at the client computer. Normally, this is not supplied by the browser.
authuser: User identification that was given by the user during authentication on the web server, whenever downloading documents from a domain that is protected by authentication.
[date]: Time of transaction e.g. [01/Apr/2002:01:49:07 +0200].
request : The request made to the server e.g. ''GET /''.
status: Numeric code for the status of the connection e.g. 200 = OK or 404 = File not Found.
bytes: Amount of transferred data in bytes.
site: site visited.
browser: Name and version of browser.
It would be possible, with knowledge of the IP (especially when the IP was provided statically) to establish a profile of a certain user, using user track records. In practice, however, this is very difficult. Normally, you are given a new IP each time you connect through an internet provider. Therefore, it would only be possible for a specialist to identify the person behind the IP.
TuTech ensures, that these data are used solely to review the efficiency of its website. Individual user profiles are not established.
II. Storage of data
1. Data from forms
When you submit a form from our website, its content is usually sent to one of TuTech’s employees as an e-mail. Parallel to this you receive an e-mail containing all data stored. Should you object to TuTech saving these data, we will only save them as long as we need to process your request. To ensure privacy protection you can also print the forms and send them to us by fax or letter.
2. Web server log files
Log files are solely saved for statistical purposes. They are used to conduct efficiency surveys.
III. Disclosure of data
TuTech does NOT disclose personal data to other parties, unless it is required by law. TuTech may e.g. be obliged to do so vis-à-vis prosecution authorities.
IV. Cookies
Cookies are details that a website may store on the web browser (that is your PC) in a simple text file. The same webpage (and nobody else) can retrieve this information, in the case of a permanent cookie, also at your next visit. Cookies are used by online shops, to store the contents of your shopping-cart until the moment of actual ordering. Sometimes they are used to store your user-id for sites with a restricted access. With this tool it is not necessary to re-enter this information, because it can be accessed directly. TuTech tries to use cookies as little as possible. When login data have to be entered repeatedly, TuTech makes use of cookies to increase the user-friendliness. However, cookies are never used to analyze user data.
V. Privacy policy
Though TuTech maintains a high standard of data security on all its servers and goes to great lengths to ensure safe use, we cannot guarantee total security during transfer of data via the Internet.
VI. Consent / Objection to data collection
1. Form data
You can, of course, decide which data you insert in forms. In some cases the actual insertion in the boxes is checked. The correctness is of no importance in such cases. However, you should be aware of the fact, that we are not able to reply to you without having your e-mail address. Besides, anonymous applicants are only supplied with general information.
2. Web server log files
If you want to avoid sending system information via the Internet, you can use a service like www.anonymizer.com or JAP (anon.inf.tu-dresden.de/).
3. Cookies
You can adjust the configuration of your browser, as to prevent it accepting cookies. By doing so, you may disable web-based functions.
