Tutech joins Creathon in Twente University’s Design Lab
A Creathon is a kind of pressure cooker for ideas. Last weekend a team of TUHH students was plunged into one of these cookers. From Friday afternoon to Sunday evening, participants in the ECIU Creathon Smart Region worked in Twente University’s Design Lab to develop solutions to social challenges in cities and regions. The TUHH team competed with students from Twente to develop solutions to the “Hamburg Innovation Fellows” challenge set by Hamburg Marketing. The aim is to implement the proposed solutions in Hamburg’s bid to win the 2019 iCapital title.
The team of students from Hamburg was one of 18 teams working on 6 challenges for the cities of Twente, Stavanger, Breda/Brabant, Aalborg, Linköping and Hamburg. So-called “Professionals” from these cities and regions were on hand to support the teams with briefing about the individual cities, their challenges and ambitions, and information and data sources.
Tutech was charged by TUHH and Hamburg Marketing with being ambassador for the Hamburg Challenge and thus played its part in the quadruple helix. Our colleague Margarete Remmert-Rieper supported the student team and also contributed her knowledge about projects in the City of Hamburg in a parallel workshop for the “Professionals” (such as urbantransform.eu).
“It was great fun taking part in this inspiring Creathon and supporting the City of Hamburg’s Challenge. The team of students from Hamburg was super and put a lot of enthusiasm and knowledge into developing a great solution. The team from Twente University that also worked on the Hamburg Challenge was just as good. The teams got on really well and this will be another contribution to the close relations between Twenty and TUHH. I hope I could contribute to the knowledge transfer and am dying to hear what Hamburg Marketing will say about the results.”
