ECIU Workshop on LLL-CPD hosted by Tutech & TUHH
The topic of Lifelong Learning (LLL) and Continued Professional Development (CPD) formed the focus of a two day workshop held at Tutech and at TUHH 26-27 June.
With changing demographics and the challenge of industry 4.0, universities must find ways to open up higher education so it is available not just for school leavers. TUHH with the involvement of Tutech is an active member of the European Consortium of Innovative Universities, a university network that brings together 12 universities from across Europe plus one located in Mexico all of which are characterised by being young, heavily engaged in the innovation eco-system of their regions and with a strong desire to be at the forefront of third mission activities.
The workshop brought together experts and managers of LLL activities from 6 ECIU members to compare experience and offerings relating to LLL opportunities at their respective universities. Day 1 held at Tutech included a skyped presentation from Edith Kröber European University Continuing Education Network (EUCEN) giving a an overview of approaches across Europe. This was followed by presentations and exchange of experience from each of the participating universities. On day 2 held at TUHH working groups addressed common challenges and shared ideas for common action.
Christine Bauhofer, Head of the ContinING programme development at TUHH and Tutech summarised the meeting as being very much appreciated by all particularly since it showed that everyone was facing the same challenges and it gave an opportunity to share ideas on how to address these.
