The startup Plancraft recently announced a financing round of 38 million euros.
An impressive example of successful startup support. Plancraft was founded by TUHH alumni Julian Wiedenhaus and Alexander Noll, both graduates of the ‘International Industrial Engineering and Management’ programme, and Richard Keil. Their success story highlights the close collaboration within the Hamburg startup network, which supports students and founders from the initial idea through to the scalable growth phase. The founders of Plancraft were supported by a dedicated team at the Startup Port: initially by Konstantin Kollar, followed by Sebastian Bartosch and Andrea Otto. With support from the TUHH, they secured an EXIST startup grant – under the main mentorship of Professor Christian Lüthje and with technical expertise from Professor Wolfgang Kersten. This co-operation illustrates how we empower students to find the courage to start a business, maintain their determination through ups and downs and receive tailored support at the right time – from idea development to financing and market launch.

Since 2019, Hamburg’s largest universities and DESY have joined forces to promote startups by scientists more effectively. This cooperation was expanded in 2023 and, under the name Startup Port, offers centralised access to startup support units at all associated institutions. Our partner company Hamburg Innovation is involved as project organiser.
