The European Union's Research Executive Agency (REA), together with the ZeroPollution4Water (ZP4Water) Cluster, has published a report on the 32 case studies of the ZP4Water Cluster on drinking water and groundwater on the website of the EU Publications Office.
This report and its case studies make a valuable contribution to supporting the planned EU Water Resilience Strategy and the Zero Pollution Strategy under the European Green Deal.
The 142-page publication provides a comprehensive overview of the cluster’s seven projects, which have been funded under the Horizon Europe research and innovation program since November 2023. The primary goal is to prevent groundwater pollution, ensure high drinking water quality, and develop innovative monitoring and early warning systems. These approaches are also intended to prepare the EU water sector for challenges posed by climate change and ensure the protection of people and the environment.
Highlights of the report:
- Summary of the main challenges in groundwater pollution (Box 2, p. 16) and drinking water pollution (Box 3, p. 20).
- Technical information such as a list of monitoring technologies for groundwater (Table 1, pp. 17-19) and drinking water (Table 2, p. 21).
- References to the EU Water Resilience Strategy (pp. 135-137).
