FASTER provided a platform of added-value services to EU SMEs from the transport sector, in particular maritime, and related business areas. Its consortium consisted of organisations with privileged links to EU SMEs and consultancy companies that combined sound expertise in the sectors that were the focus of this project with successful experience in facilitating the participation of SMEs in RTD activities. The project was intended to directly foster the participation of 55 SMEs in FP6 instruments. The project participants carried out large awareness-raising actions on FP6 opportunities for SMEs. On this basis, SMEs were profiled by the project consultants and were given access to a series of services including technological audits and screening of research plans.

Tutech coordinated the activities relating to exploitation and dissemination, acted as a mediator for exploitation interests, organised workshops and other transport-related events, and developed and maintained the project website. Tutech assisted the integration of two companies into the Freightwise project.
